This is a renewable resource and can be used in place of peat moss, is 100% natural and is biodegradable. It doesn't turn into a rotting mush in wet environments because it degrades very slowly, lasting up to 5 years! This product requires a soil amendment (sold separately) when used as a potting media for live plants to add additional nutrients. Sold as a highly compressed brick, when placed in 1 gal. of water, it will expand in 20 minutes to yield enough material to be used in up to a 20 gal. terrarium. Use moist to provide humidity for tropical environments or allow to dry for use as a soft, absorbent animal bedding. Note: Not all coir is suitable for use when growing live plants in terrariums. Coir produced for use with garden and potted plants is NOT the same! There are similar products on the market which have high levels of salts in them.
