Check Out The New Species!... There are several things to remember when shopping for Nepenthes. First, be aware that photos shown to illustrate a species typically show what mature pitchers will look like on an adult plant. In most cases, the plant you are ordering is a young individual with varying leaf sizes. You can find details on what to expect in each of our plant descriptions. Second, not all nurseries are selling equally. Some individuals may sell plants bare-root, or even right out of a bag from the importer! When dealing with small plants there is simply no reason to ship bare-root. The difference in weight is insufficient to justify the stress the plant goes through when the roots are disturbed. Even worse are plants shipped right from the bag of an overseas nursery. Very few individuals have the precise conditions needed to establish the plants properly so as to ensure a healthy future. The plants may survive, but the difference can be surprising over the following years. Here at Black Jungle, all of our plants are shipped in the pots they have been growing in resulting in much less stress on the plants and an easier acclimation period for you, the home grower. Receiving a fully potted, and established, plant is also nicer as there is nothing to have to do after opening the box except for enjoying your new addition!
