The higland species of Nepenthes are those that are generally found growing at elevations of 1000 meters and higher. These species generally experience cooler temperatures during the day with bright light. At night the temperature drops at least 15-20 degrees or more and the humidity rises to nearly 100%. In cultivation, average temperatures of 65 to 85 during the day will suit most species as long as the nightime temps experience a drop of at least ten to fifteen degrees. Humidity is most important at night when it should be no lower than 90%. Many of these species are relatively easy to grow, tolerating less than ideal conditions. A few of the 'Extreme Highlanders' are much more sensitive and require more strict culture. Among the most striking of the group, the highland species are well worth the effort!
